Jan Johansson cooks meals from World Cup nations

Jan Johansson from Fyrås prepares daily meals inspired by countries playing or eliminated in the 2026 World Cup.

Jan Johansson, a sports teacher, has spent his summer holiday cooking dishes from World Cup nations. The idea came from a friend several years ago and he has now followed four championships this way.

When SVT visited him in Fyrås he was preparing a Moroccan tagine using elk instead of goat. He predicted a win for France in the quarter-final against Morocco.

Previous dishes include South Korean bulgogi, Egyptian shawarma, Canadian poutine and Senegalese mafé. The Swedish dish was anchovy ice cream. He has saved a ratatouille for France but believes Norway will win the tournament.
