Karolina Wydra's portrayal of Zosia, Carol's hive-mind handler on Apple TV's Pluribus, marks a significant return to acting after a five-year hiatus. The Polish native, who began her career as a teen model before transitioning to acting, had no Hollywood representation when the opportunity arose. "The audition came at a time that I didn't have an agent or a manager," she told The Hollywood Reporter. The show's casting directors, familiar with her from the 2016 horror film Incarnate, reached out directly. Showrunner Vince Gilligan revealed they had searched globally for the right actor, unable to find a match until Wydra. A fan of Gilligan's work, she described the experience as "so surreal," adding, "I still feel like I'm dreaming in the best way."
Wydra's TV journey started gaining traction in 2011 with her role as Dominika, a massage therapist who marries Hugh Laurie's Gregory House, appearing in the final two seasons of Fox's House. In 2013, she joined HBO's True Blood as vampire Violet, debuting in Season 6 and meeting a dramatic end in the series finale when shot through the heart.
