Karolina Wydra's extensive TV roles before Pluribus

Karolina Wydra, who plays the cheerful Zosia on Apple TV's Pluribus, brings a wealth of experience to the role after a diverse career on television. Absent from screens for five years, she landed the part without an agent, thanks to persistent casting efforts. Her previous credits span medical dramas, supernatural series, and Marvel adventures.

Karolina Wydra's portrayal of Zosia, Carol's hive-mind handler on Apple TV's Pluribus, marks a significant return to acting after a five-year hiatus. The Polish native, who began her career as a teen model before transitioning to acting, had no Hollywood representation when the opportunity arose. "The audition came at a time that I didn't have an agent or a manager," she told The Hollywood Reporter. The show's casting directors, familiar with her from the 2016 horror film Incarnate, reached out directly. Showrunner Vince Gilligan revealed they had searched globally for the right actor, unable to find a match until Wydra. A fan of Gilligan's work, she described the experience as "so surreal," adding, "I still feel like I'm dreaming in the best way."

Wydra's TV journey started gaining traction in 2011 with her role as Dominika, a massage therapist who marries Hugh Laurie's Gregory House, appearing in the final two seasons of Fox's House. In 2013, she joined HBO's True Blood as vampire Violet, debuting in Season 6 and meeting a dramatic end in the series finale when shot through the heart. The next year, on FX's Justified, she recurred as Mara Paxton in Season 5, aiding Walton Goggins' Boyd Crowder in faking his death.

2015 brought a lead role as undercover cop Dianne in ABC's Wicked City, though the crime drama lasted only three episodes. She later played con artist Karolina in Season 1 of Prime Video's Sneaky Pete, co-created by Bryan Cranston. Additional appearances included journalist Sasha Barinov in Season 2 of ABC's Quantico, episodes of Showtime's Twin Peaks revival, and CBS's MacGyver reboot. Her most recent pre-Pluribus role was in 2019 as the planet-destroying entity Izel on ABC's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Pluribus has revitalized her career, introducing her talents to new audiences while highlighting her established versatility across genres.
