Latex and latex-like materials featured prominently on several couture runways this summer. Designers showcased the shiny, form-fitting fabric despite high temperatures. Experts note both its visual appeal and challenges for everyday wear.
The trend appeared at Saint Laurent during Paris men’s, where Connor Storrie wore knee-high latex sock boots. Rosalía later appeared in New York City wearing a custom latex-bodiced tutu by Yasmina.
At Rick Owens, models wore sheer latex tanks and thick latex capes. Loewe’s fall/winter 2026 show in March included garments cast in latex, such as 3D printed slip dresses. Schiaparelli featured latex-looking pieces, with one sculptural look made from actual latex.
Tiffany Hsu of Mytheresa said latex creates impactful high-fashion moments due to its visual strength. Agus Panzoni of Death to Stock noted its roots in punk and fetish scenes but highlighted its current use for body contouring.
Commercial adoption remains limited. Simon Longland of Harrods called latex a niche proposition. Loewe will produce non-latex versions of some runway tops for sale.
