President Marcos and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet in Kazan this week to explore ways to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
The meeting will mark Marcos’ first visit to Russia as president. He will co-chair the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit scheduled for June 17 and 18.
The summit commemorates 35 years of dialogue relations and 50 years of diplomatic ties between the Philippines and Russia. Discussions will focus on food security, energy security, and the impact of the Middle East crisis.
Marcos will be joined by First Lady Liza Marcos and Foreign Affairs Secretary Maria Theresa Lazaro. The summit is expected to adopt the Kazan Declaration 2026 and the ASEAN-Russia Comprehensive Plan of Action 2026-2030.
