Uppsala Municipality has produced a rural analysis to boost access to sports facilities in countryside areas. The analysis will form the basis for future planning and priorities.
The Sports and Leisure Committee produced the analysis, which maps variations in supply, quality and function of facilities across different rural parts. Basic structures often link to schools, yet standards differ and sometimes limit use.
The school's role in children's and young people's activity is highlighted, while the need for more environments for spontaneous movement outside school hours is stressed. Needs vary, with some areas requiring smaller interventions and others lacking basic conditions.
The committee has also tasked the administration with preparing a deeper analysis of gender-equal elite sports. The aim is to create equal conditions for women and men in elite activities.
