Old building materials turned into playgrounds in Falun

Surplus building material has been used for play structures in Geislerska parken in Falun. High school students built the constructions together with architects.

The project is run by high schools, architecture firms, companies and Falu kommun. Students from Hagströmska gymnasiet, Praktiska gymnasiet and Lugnetgymnasiet have worked with material collected from private individuals.

Several ideas for the objects come from preschool children in the municipality. The exhibition in the park shows how circular construction can work in practice.

After the display the constructions will be placed at preschools around Falu kommun.

Archaeology students at Uppsala University have begun excavating Engelska parken to uncover remnants of past generations' student life. The project focuses on the last 150 years, seeking traces of chemistry experiments, political manifestations, and parties. Finds are displayed daily to the public.

Plans for a new large preschool in Bro have sparked strong reactions among parents in Romme. Louise and Håkan Fredin, who have long advocated for Tunets school, have appealed the building permit for the new facility intended to replace three smaller preschools. The parents accuse the municipality of secrecy.

Erikshjälpen Framtidsverkstad is expanding support for parents in several Uppsala neighborhoods to help prevent children and young people from falling into exclusion and crime.

Following the threat of closure last summer, the Konstgrafiska workshop in Falun has now been saved. New collaborations and larger investments are expected ahead. "It feels very hopeful", says graphic artist Lars Wikström.
