North Korea has convened meetings of ruling party committees under government ministries to discuss implementing decisions from last month's parliamentary session. Expanded plenary meetings advanced pledges made by leader Kim Jong-un to the Supreme People's Assembly. State media reported this on Wednesday.
North Korea's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Wednesday that ruling party committees under ministries including rail, land and ocean transportation, and culture and sports held expanded plenary meetings. The sessions discussed implementing decisions from last month's first session of the 15th Supreme People's Assembly (SPA).
The SPA meeting addressed a constitutional revision, advancing nuclear deterrence, and policies for the people, among other issues. Following a party congress in February—the first in five years—North Korea outlined a five-year national development plan and has intensified implementation efforts.
The party committee meetings delved into draft resolutions for achieving sector-specific goals, KCNA said. The land and ocean transportation ministry meeting particularly focused on building new seaports and docks and modernizing capacities to expedite supply deliveries to construction sites.
Meetings at the Pyongyang construction committee and a national science institution discussed ramping up domestic production of construction materials and developing advanced technologies to improve people's lives, respectively.
