Norway adds NHL player to world championship squad

Norway will receive reinforcement from North America for the ice hockey world championship in Switzerland. The 20-year-old Michael Brandsegg-Nygård joins after his AHL team was eliminated.

The Norwegian right winger played 14 NHL games with Detroit this season without scoring. In the AHL he recorded 44 points in 60 games for Grand Rapids. Brandsegg-Nygård previously played for Skellefteå and Mora in Sweden.
