Oromia records major success in livestock and fish development

The Oromia region livestock and fish resource development project has achieved significant success by supporting producers through modern organization.

The Oromia regional agriculture bureau deputy head Ato Tolera Debela said the project has improved nutrition systems and significantly raised household incomes beyond expectations.

Project coordinator Dr. Dereje Gudeta stated that more than 4,000 farmers, youth and women have been organized, with 2,118 successful producers elevated into cooperatives. These groups received infrastructure, tools, inputs and practical knowledge before starting operations.

Officials noted that results exceeded targets. Work continues to expand the model to other areas through integration with regular extension systems.
