President Prabowo Subianto distributed 1,098 sacrificial cows for Idul Adha 1447 Hijriah using Banpres funds worth Rp100 billion.
The distribution is part of the longstanding Presidential Community Assistance program. The cows came from local breeders and were premium animals weighing between 800 kilograms and 1.3 tons.
Deputy Minister of State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro stressed that the aid targets communities in need so they can celebrate Idul Adha together. Separately, President Prabowo also performed his personal sacrifice using his own funds.
Deputy Chairman of Commission XIII of the DPR RI Sugiat Santoso said the use of the state budget for such social activities is common and has been done by previous presidents. Chairman of the MUI Fatwa Division Prof KH Asrorun Niam Sholeh added that the model has strong hadith foundations.
