Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed addressed Ethiopia's debt management during a speech in the House of People's Representatives.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed raised key points during the 30th regular meeting of the fifth term of the House of People's Representatives. He stated that Ethiopia does not require commercial debt for development.
Two years earlier the Eurobond issue had arisen. The Prime Minister said Ethiopia reached agreements with many creditors and reduced its debt from over 50 percent to below 45 percent.
This has earned trust from financial institutions he noted. Agreements were signed with G20 countries. Domestic borrowing will continue with emphasis on confirming the capacity to repay he added.
