PSOE-A closes consensus candidate lists in seven provinces amid Cádiz tensions

Provincial branches of PSOE Andaluz approved their candidate lists for the May 17 elections on Wednesday, achieving consensus in seven of eight provinces at the request of the regional executive led by María Jesús Montero. Tensions persist only in Cádiz, where the regional Lists Committee plans to alter the order of candidates proposed by provincial secretary Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix. The process featured secret negotiations and internal struggles to avoid public divisions.

PSOE Andaluz, led by secretary general and Junta presidency candidate María Jesús Montero, has finalized electoral lists for the May 17 regional elections. Provincial committees redrafted proposals following regional executive guidance, approving them Wednesday in seven provinces: Sevilla, Córdoba, Huelva, Granada, Jaén, Málaga, and Almería.

In Sevilla, Montero heads the list followed by Rafael Recio, Marta Alonso, Alejandro Moyano, Verónica Pérez, and José María Villalobos. Córdoba features total renewal with Silvia Mellado leading, Esteban Morales, and Victoria Fernández. Huelva backs María Márquez and veteran Mario Jiménez; Granada Olga Manzano and Paco Cuenca; Jaén Paco Reyes and Ángeles Férriz; Málaga Josele Aguilar; Almería José Nicolás Ayala.

The main clash is in Cádiz, where Ruiz Boix backed a list with Juan Cornejo (1), Rocío Arrabal (2), and Fernando López Gil (3), a key Montero ally. Regional sources confirm the Lists Committee will reorder positions Friday to promote López Gil, keeping names intact. Organization secretary Paco Rodríguez negotiated secretly amid criticisms of "lack of direction" or "excess authority".

Marking Montero's first such process amid unfavorable polls—PSOE holding 30 of 109 seats—it aims to project unity to mobilize progressive voters.
