Religious affairs minister attends national pindapata for vesak 2026

Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar opened the National Pindapata Gema Waisak 2026 event in Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Sunday morning. Around 10,000 Buddhists gathered to mark the tradition under the theme of walking the noble path by contributing to the nation.

The event held on Jalan Benyamin Sueb drew 75 bhikkhus from the Sangha Theravada Indonesia. Nasaruddin Umar said the pindapata teaches lessons about letting go and sharing amid modern life.

Committee chair Daniel Johan said the collected funds would help people in need. Bhikkhu Subhapanno Mahathera affirmed the tradition trains morality, mental firmness, and wisdom toward Nibbana.

The presence of government officials and interfaith representatives highlighted support for religious harmony. The program also included blood donations and free health checks as concrete social contributions.
