Shohei Ohtani hits 300th MLB home run

Shohei Ohtani reached a career milestone on Tuesday night by hitting his 300th Major League Baseball home run. The Los Angeles Dodgers star connected on a leadoff homer against the Colorado Rockies in a game that ended 4-3.

Ohtani went 1 for 4 with the homer and a walk. He now stands as the 168th player in MLB history to reach 300 home runs. Including his time in Japan, his career total is 348.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts praised the achievement after the game. "It was quite the homer. It was squared up, got out in a hurry. And 300, he got there pretty quickly for us," Roberts said.

Ohtani turned 32 on Sunday. He is hitting .295 with 20 home runs this season while also posting a 1.79 ERA over 85 2/3 innings as a pitcher. The two-way player is under contract with the Dodgers through 2033.
