Six men face kidnapping and conspiracy charges after allegedly abducting a man at a Margaritaville resort in Hollywood, Florida, and torturing him with a blowtorch. The incident began on May 26 and spanned into the next day.
According to a federal complaint, the suspects lured the victim to the resort under the pretense of smoking marijuana before four masked gunmen arrived in the parking lot. The victim was pistol-whipped, forced into a car, and driven away while one suspect threatened to kill him and his family if he tried to escape.
During the drive the men demanded money and threatened to remove the victim's fingernails with pliers. At an empty parking lot they ordered both victims to strip and attempted to burn off a tattoo on the first victim using a blowtorch.
The suspects released the second victim after noticing his ankle monitor. The first victim faked a seizure, prompting the group to abandon him roadside. He later sought help and identified the attackers.
The six men, aged 18 to 21, are held without bond in the Broward County Jail. They are slated to appear in court on Monday.
