Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, son of fugitive Riza Chalid, was sentenced to 15 years in prison by Jakarta's Corruption Court for corruption in Pertamina's crude oil and refinery products management from 2018 to 2023. He plans to appeal, claiming many trial facts were ignored by the judges. The ruling also includes fines and repayment of Rp2.9 trillion.
On Friday, February 27, 2026, the panel of judges at Jakarta's Corruption Court (PN Tipikor) found Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, alias Kerry, guilty of joint corruption. As the beneficial owner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa and PT Orbit Terminal Merak, he was involved in arranging the lease of three ships from PT Jenggala Maritim Nusantara and the Merak Fuel Terminal (TBBM). His actions caused a state loss of Rp285.18 trillion and personal enrichment of Rp2.9 trillion.
The imposed sentence includes 15 years imprisonment, a fine of Rp1 billion subsider 190 days, and an obligation to repay Rp2.9 trillion subsider five years imprisonment. Chief Judge Fajar Kusuma Aji stated that Kerry's actions violated Article 603 juncto Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code jo. Article 18 of Law No. 31 of 1999 on Eradication of Corruption Crimes. As an aggravating factor, the judges noted that the actions do not support the government's anti-corruption program. Meanwhile, Kerry's lack of prior convictions and family responsibilities were considered mitigating.
After the hearing, Kerry expressed his intention to appeal. "Insya Allah mau ajuin banding. Insya Allah," he said. He complained that the panel ignored many trial facts that do not prove his guilt. "Saya juga bingung dengan putusannya, karena banyak fakta-fakta persidangan yang tidak dimasukkan di dalam pertimbangan putusan," Kerry stated. He is determined to continue legal efforts to seek justice.
Kerry's legal advisor, Patra M Zen, questioned the judges' consideration of his father Riza Chalid's involvement through Irawan Prakoso, without sufficient evidence. "Irawan Prakoso tidak dihadirkan dalam sidang ini, MRC juga tidak dihadirkan. Pertanyaannya itu dalil dari mana datangnya?" he asked. Additionally, PT Orbit Terminal Merak's assets were confiscated for the state, though still used by Pertamina, which puzzled Kerry.
The ruling also implicates Commissioner of PT Pelayaran Mahameru Kencana Abadi Gading Ramadhan Juedo and Commissioner of PT JMN Dimas Werhaspati.
