The Pittsburgh Steelers are holding internal conversations about the future of their home stadium, according to former player Charlie Batch. The team has played at Acrisure Stadium since 2001.
Charlie Batch made the comments on The Snap Count podcast. He said the Rooney family is seeking an upgrade as the venue approaches 30 years of age. Batch noted that other facilities on the North Shore are also aging. He added that the team’s practice facility may be the first to relocate. Pittsburgh has two main options, renewing its lease or building a new stadium. Owner Art Rooney II previously stated a desire to remain at Acrisure Stadium for a long time. Batch declined to predict whether the team would stay in the city. He referenced the Pittsburgh Penguins’ earlier decision to move their practice site outside downtown.
