Trailer released for Green Day comedy Nimrods

A full trailer has been released for the upcoming comedy film Nimrods, which stars Green Day playing themselves. The movie follows a young band that lands a support slot with the group after submitting a demo tape.

The trailer for Nimrods was shared on June 10. It depicts a young trio meeting Green Day and embarking on a cross-country journey filled with misadventures to reach a New Year’s Eve show. The film, directed by Lee Kirk, draws from Green Day’s early road experiences before their 1994 album Dookie. It stars Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust, McKenna Grace, Fred Armisen, Jenna Fischer and Bobby Lee, with Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool appearing as themselves. Originally titled New Years Rev, the project was renamed Nimrods in April. It is scheduled for release in US cinemas on August 14. Billie Joe Armstrong said the story captures the DIY spirit of Green Day’s early tours, including shows shut down by police and a mud fight at Woodstock.
