Borlänge teenagers sentenced for Hesa Fredrik sabotage at Hushagsgymnasiet

Two teenage boys from Borlänge were sentenced by Falu District Court for sabotage after stealing Hesa Fredrik sirens from the roof of Hushagsgymnasiet in spring 2025 to use as vehicle speakers. They received youth service and were ordered to pay reduced damages.

In a follow-up to their March 2026 indictment for removing two Hesa Fredrik sirens from Hushagsgymnasiet—alarms critical for public warnings—the Falu District Court convicted the boys of sabotage. The court found they had 'seriously disrupted or hindered the use of property of significant importance for the kingdom's defense and for maintaining public order and security.'

Penalties included 50 and 30 hours of youth service, respectively. The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) sought 30,000 kronor for replacement and installation, but the court ruled the sirens likely reusable, ordering the boys and parents to pay 8,300 kronor jointly for reinstallation.

The boys had admitted wanting the sirens for their 'good sound' as speakers in an A-tractor.
