Vice President Duterte denies plans to oust Marcos

Vice President Sara Duterte said she will not support efforts to overthrow President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., rejecting rumors of destabilization plots.

In Davao City on June 12, Duterte said she is the constitutional successor and took an oath to defend the Constitution. “Wala sa aking mga kamay ang pagsasagawa ng any extra-constitutional means to overthrow the current administration, at hindi ko rin gusto ‘yon,” she said.

She stressed she does not want to snatch Marcos’ position and wants the public to see “hanggang sa dulo kung gaano ka walanghiya si BBM.” She also criticized government corruption that steals people’s freedom and dignity.

Malacañang responded through Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro, who said Duterte has always wanted to oust Marcos based on her July 19, 2025 speech. Duterte’s impeachment trial is scheduled to begin on July 6.

Lawmakers hit back at a Supreme Court petition by Vice President Sara Duterte's allies seeking to block her ongoing impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives. The move comes after the House justice committee advanced two complaints to hearings.

Malacañang has shrugged off the coalition launched on Sunday by allies of the Duterte family. The Reform Alliance for Good Governance and Accountability, or RAGE Coalition, led by Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, unites political forces aligned with the Dutertes amid government challenges like anomalous infrastructure projects and soaring fuel prices. Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said President Marcos will not be swayed by personal grudges or ambitions.
