Woman accused of slashing Walmart employee's throat in parking lot

A 52-year-old woman faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill after allegedly stabbing a Walmart employee in the throat in Greensboro, North Carolina. The attack occurred in a parking lot on Tuesday evening, leaving the victim with severe injuries including a cut to her carotid artery. Police arrested the suspect shortly after the incident.

Greensboro police responded around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to the Walmart on West Wendover Avenue, where they found the victim suffering from a stab wound. The employee, who was on her dinner break, had been sitting in her car with the window down when Tokyia Brown, a passenger in another vehicle, pulled up nearby. Brown allegedly exited the car, pushed a shopping cart into the victim's vehicle, and exchanged words with her, prompting the victim to step out, according to the Greensboro Police Department. Brown then reportedly used a sharp object from her keychain to slash the victim's throat, cutting across the carotid artery and reaching the top of her left lung, a prosecutor said during a bond hearing cited by local outlet WGHP. The victim ran into the store applying pressure to the profusely bleeding wound while employees called 911. Paramedics transported her to a hospital, where she underwent surgery for injuries described as non-life-threatening. Surveillance footage captured the altercation, police said. Officers located and arrested Brown, who is now held without bond at the Guilford County Correctional Facility. Court records show she is unemployed with a prior conviction for simple assault; earlier charges of assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats were dismissed.
