Pierre Gasly finished eighth in the Canadian Grand Prix but his result masked ongoing performance problems with the Alpine car. The issues have persisted since the Miami weekend and affected his qualifying pace.
Gasly reported a mysterious change in the A526's behaviour since Miami that reduced his confidence in low-speed traction. He was outqualified by teammate Franco Colapinto across four consecutive sessions and hit a groundhog during qualifying in Montreal which caused damage and early elimination.
