Authorities detain Eva Zuleyma ‘N’ in Cuautla for aggravated sexual abuse of two children

Agents from the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Eastern Regional Prosecutor's Office arrested Eva Zuleyma ‘N’ in Cuautla, Morelos, for aggravated sexual abuse against two minors. The accused was transferred to the State Center for Social Reintegration in Atlacholoaya, where she will await her initial hearing. The case highlights a woman as the perpetrator, an atypical profile in such crimes.

Agents from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) of the Eastern Regional Prosecutor's Office executed an arrest warrant against Eva Zuleyma ‘N’ in the Santa Inés neighborhood of Cuautla, Morelos. The woman faces charges of aggravated sexual abuse in homogeneous real competition against two children, according to a complaint filed by a relative of the victims with the Specialized Unit for Sexual Crimes and Human Trafficking in the Eastern zone.

The probe involved expert examinations and reports that allowed the public prosecutor to link her to the acts. The abuses are alleged to have occurred repeatedly on different dates. A first-instance judge issued the warrant after determining her probable responsibility.

Following her arrest, Eva Zuleyma ‘N’ was admitted to the women's section of the Morelos State Center for Social Reintegration (Cereso) in Atlacholoaya, Xochitepec municipality. She will remain there pending her initial hearing.

The case is unusual, as local studies show that 86 to 94 percent of child sexual abuse perpetrators are men, usually known to the victims. Morelos has high rates of child sexual violence, but with predominantly male aggressors.
