Authorities link criminal group to murder of Clara Brugada aides

Mexico City prosecutors revealed that a drug trafficking group organized the murder of Ximena Guzmán and José Muñoz, aides to Clara Brugada. Authorities have arrested 18 people in the case so far.

During a conference held on May 14, city authorities reported that the double homicide that occurred on May 20, 2025 on Calzada de Tlalpan was planned by a criminal cell dedicated to retail drug sales operating in Mexico City and the State of Mexico.

Security Secretary Pablo Vázquez detailed that the operation required a significant investment of human and financial resources. Six of those detained took material part in the events, while others provided logistical and financial support.

Key arrests include Isaí ‘N’ in August 2025, Jasiel ‘N’ in October, Wendy ‘N’ and Dylan ‘N’ in November, and Jocabet ‘N’ in February 2026. In addition, an alleged accomplice with an arrest warrant was found dead in Morelos months after the crime.

Prosecutor Bertha Alcalde Luján ruled out the existence of an internal network inside the government. Clara Brugada stated there will be no forgetting and that full justice will be sought for the victims.
