Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 wins game of the year at all five major awards

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has become only the second game to claim game of the year at all five major awards, following its victory at the 2026 BAFTA Game Awards. The French RPG triumphed over strong competition to secure the Best Game prize for 2025. It also won in Debut Game and Best Performer categories.

On April 17, the 2026 BAFTA Game Awards took place, where Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 clinched the Best Game award for 2025. The title beat nominees including Arc Raiders, Blue Prince, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Ghost of Yotei, and Dispatch. Jennifer English received Best Performer in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Maelle, and the game also took home Debut Game honors. These victories complete a rare sweep of game of the year prizes at the Golden Joystick Awards, The Game Awards, DICE Awards, Game Developers Choice Awards, and BAFTA Game Awards. Baldur's Gate 3 from 2023 stands as the only other title to achieve this feat. Previously, games like Elden Ring and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild secured wins at some but not all of these events. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a turn-based RPG from France, earned acclaim for its gameplay, storyline, and art style following its 2025 release.
