Cuba and china strengthen cooperation in studying revolutionary histories

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel met with Li Zongyuan, director of the Museum of History of the Communist Party of China, to boost cooperation in studying the histories of both countries, their revolutions, and communist parties. The meeting occurred at the Palace of the Revolution and builds on interparty ties between Cuba and China. Díaz-Canel emphasized the role of these exchanges in building a community with a shared future.

The meeting took place on Tuesday morning at the Palace of the Revolution, where Díaz-Canel, accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, a Political Bureau member and Central Committee Organization Secretary, received Li Zongyuan and his delegation. This visit continues the interactions during Díaz-Canel's tour of China, where he explored the museum's exhibition, an institution conceived by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and president of the People's Republic of China.

"The cornerstone of relations between Cuba and China are interparty ties, and the strength of these ties is that both countries are building a community with a shared future," Díaz-Canel said in welcoming the delegation. The Cuban president highlighted the systematic nature of partisan exchanges and thanked Li for the attention during his museum visit, which deepened understanding of China's history and the CPC's vanguard role in society and the reform process.

Díaz-Canel regarded the Chinese reform process as a reference for Cuba in facing blockade-induced difficulties. In Shenzhen, during visits to the CPC Museum in Beijing and the Reform Museum, the Cuban leader appreciated Xi Jinping's leadership. Li Zongyuan recalled Díaz-Canel's stay in China last September for the 80th anniversary commemorations of the Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and China, highlighted by an exchange of letters between Xi Jinping and Díaz-Canel. Li noted that the museum is a public institution to preserve CPC history and strengthen bilateral relations. This marks the museum delegation's first overseas visit, with Cuba selected as the inaugural destination.

The meeting also included Chinese Ambassador to Cuba Hua Xin; Chen Yuhe, the museum's deputy general director; Emilio Lozada García, head of the PCC's International Relations Department; and Yuniasky Crespo Baquero, head of the Ideological Department, among other officials.
