The report published on May 28, 2026 by TransUnion showed that digital fraud in Colombia fell 74% in 2025. The median declared loss by victims reached 5.8 million pesos.

Diana Martínez, director of fraud prevention solutions at TransUnion for Latin America, noted that scammers succeed where trust already exists, especially on digital platforms. The most common modalities were vishing affecting 25% of victims, followed by phishing and smishing at 18% each.

The government sector accounted for 10% of fraud attempts, while telecommunications and insurance recorded increases of 47% and 13% respectively. The highest fraud rate occurred during account creation at 7.2%. 84% of respondents consider trust in data security essential.
