The incident took place on March 25 at a home on 57th Street East in Palmetto. Deputies responded to reports of a shooting and found the 5-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the upper chest. The bullet passed through his body, striking his clavicle and lung before exiting. The boy required intubation for five days and remains in hospital recovering from serious injuries.
