دفع رجل من ولاية فلوريدا يبلغ من العمر 36 عاماً ببراءته من تهمة الإهمال الجنائي، وذلك بعد أن عثر ابنه الصغير على مسدس غير مؤمن وأطلق النار بالخطأ على طفل آخر.

وقع الحادث في 25 مارس في منزل يقع في شارع 57 الشرقي بمدينة بالميتو. واستجابت الشرطة لبلاغات عن حادث إطلاق نار، حيث عثرت على الضحية البالغ من العمر 5 سنوات مصاباً بطلق ناري في أعلى الصدر. اخترقت الرصاصة جسده وأصابت الترقوة والرئة قبل أن تخرج. احتاج الطفل إلى جهاز تنفس صناعي لمدة خمسة أيام، ولا يزال يتلقى العلاج في المستشفى للتعافي من إصاباته الخطيرة.
