The US Open has seen four WTA players pull out of the main draw ahead of the tournament, which remains weeks away. Ajla Tomljanovic, Sonay Kartal, Victoria Mboko and Hailey Baptiste are the latest to withdraw.
Ajla Tomljanovic and Sonay Kartal have confirmed their withdrawals from the US Open. Tomljanovic's spot has gone to Germany's Ella Seidel, while Kartal's replacement remains undecided. The Australian last competed at Wimbledon, where she lost in the first round.
Sonay Kartal has been sidelined since March after suffering stress fractures in her lower back at the Indian Wells Masters. She is currently ranked No. 122 and has missed the clay and grass seasons.
Victoria Mboko and Hailey Baptiste have also withdrawn. Mboko has been out since a knee injury at the HSBC Championships and will miss the Montreal Masters, where she won the title last year. Baptiste suffered an ACL injury at the French Open and is unlikely to return this season.
