Geely Automobile Group expands its hybrid mobility offerings in Mexico with the official launch of Lynk & Co, introducing two premium SUVs, and the Geely EX5 EM-i, its first plug-in hybrid. These models stand out for their extended range and advanced technology. The arrival marks a key step in the Chinese brand's electrification portfolio in the country.
Lynk & Co, a luxury intelligent mobility brand with nine years of history and over 1.6 million global sales in 48 markets, debuted in Mexico as part of the Geely Group, sharing platforms with Volvo. At the launch event, two SUVs were unveiled: the 08, a 4.8-meter compact with a futuristic design for a young audience, and the 09, a 5-meter large model with three rows and seating for seven passengers.
The Lynk & Co 08, built on the CMA-EVO platform, features the EM-P Hybrid system with a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine of 137 hp and an electric motor of 209 hp, totaling 340 hp in front-wheel drive. As a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), it provides 1,400 km total range and 200 km in electric mode. Its Pro and Halo versions are priced at 837,900 MXN and 887,900 MXN, respectively.
The Lynk & Co 09, on the SPA platform, employs micro-hybrid (MHEV) technology with a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine of 254 hp, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive. It includes drive modes like eco, comfort, sport, and individual, plus off-road options such as snow, sand, mud, and rocks. In tests, it performed well on uneven terrain with excellent cabin insulation. Its Pro and Ultra versions sell for 949,900 MXN and 1,049,900 MXN.
Meanwhile, Geely Galaxy introduced the EX5 EM-i, its first PHEV, based on the GEA platform for electrified vehicles. This SUV manages energy with artificial intelligence (Electric Management Intelligence), combining a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine of 98 hp and an electric motor of 214 hp, with an 18.4 kWh battery, for 259 hp total, over 1,000 km range, and 105 km electric. In a 128 km test, it achieved 16.9 km/l, excelling in urban use for comfort and rear space. It arrives in one version at 589,990 MXN in pre-sale.
These launches position Lynk & Co and Zeekr as hybrid alternatives to Geely's electric models, expanding the premium offerings in Mexico.
