Australia's Bryce Cotton scored 21 points. Tyrese Proctor added 16 points. Gilas committed 19 turnovers that Australia converted into 30 points.

Justin Brownlee sat out with a hamstring injury. Coach Tim Cone said Brownlee would not have been much help given his condition. Gilas now enters Group E for the second round alongside Australia, New Zealand, Iran, Jordan, and Syria.

It's tough to gauge Gilas vs a world power like Australia but it's apparent that the core of the team will consist of Juan, Dwight, Kq, Tamayo, Qmb, Edu and Phillips. Hopefully, Ange Kouame can already be classified as a local by Fiba. Only 28, his 6'11 frame will be of big help.
