Minnesota man sentenced to 11 years for stabbing parents

Travis Lester received an 11-year prison term after pleading guilty to stabbing both his parents at their home in Champlin last September.

Lester, 40, entered the guilty plea to attempted second-degree murder in April. On May 8 he was sentenced to 11 years with credit for 245 days already served. The attack took place on the evening of September 5, 2025, when police responded to a 911 call from the family home. Lester's father told officers his son had stabbed him and his wife while in a drug-induced rage. Both parents suffered multiple stab wounds but survived after being rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Lester later confessed he had thought about the attack for a day or two and said he did not want to carry it out. Officers found a kitchen knife and methamphetamine in his car when they stopped him shortly afterward.
