Poll indicates strong support for right-wing coalition among RN and LR voters

More than eight in ten sympathizers of the Rassemblement National and Les Républicains favor a right-wing coalition after the next national elections, according to an Ifop poll. In public opinion, 52 percent of respondents approve of this hypothetical alliance including RN, LR, and Reconquête. Jordan Bardella emerges as the preferred figure to lead such a coalition.

An Ifop poll, published on October 13 for the conservative weekly Valeurs actuelles, reveals strong support for a 'right-wing coalition' among sympathizers of the Rassemblement National (RN) and Les Républicains (LR). Conducted online on October 9 and 10 among a representative sample of 1,000 people, it shows that 88 percent of RN sympathizers and 82 percent of LR sympathizers would favor such an alliance after the next national elections. The margin of error is 1.4 to 3.1 points, though not applicable to subgroups like the 248 RN sympathizers or 76 LR ones.

In general public opinion, 52 percent of respondents approve of the idea of a coalition including RN, LR, and Reconquête. This support extends to parts of left-wing voters: 21 percent in the Socialist Party, 25 percent in La France Insoumise, and 26 percent among Ecologists. Among Renaissance Macronists, 41 percent are in favor.

To embody this coalition, 42 percent of respondents choose Jordan Bardella as potential prime minister, ahead of Marine Le Pen (36 percent) and Bruno Retailleau (32 percent). Among RN voters, Marion Maréchal ranks third with 26 percent, while among LR voters, Laurent Wauquiez gets 20 percent, just behind Le Pen. Other figures like Philippe de Villiers (20 percent) and Sarah Knafo (16 percent) receive fewer votes.
