Richard Lee affirmed his Muslim faith during the first hearing at the Tangerang District Court on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
During the hearing that read the indictment on alleged violations of the Consumer Protection Law and Health Law, Richard Lee stated he was born Catholic before converting to Islam.
He said he received direct support from Ustaz Derry Sulaiman and Ustaz Felix Siauw while in detention. "Ustaz Derry Sulaiman came to me, he supported me. Ustaz Felix Siauw also came to visit me and gave direct support," he said.
Richard Lee said he did not care about netizens' comments doubting his mualaf status after the certificate was revoked by Hanny Kristianto. "What matters most is that Allah knows," he said.
