SpectraCure launches rights issue to finance studies

Medical technology company SpectraCure in Lund is carrying out a rights issue that will add 34.2 million kronor if fully subscribed. The issue will finance clinical studies and regulatory applications. The share fell more than 20 percent on Monday.

The company develops a laser system for treatment of localized prostate cancer and runs two ongoing clinical studies. One study targets patients with recurrence after radiation therapy and the other targets primary localized prostate cancer.

CEO Johannes Swartling, who took office in autumn 2025, says the focus is on completing Phase 2 and preparing for the next clinical phase. The issue is covered to 70 percent by guarantees and subscription commitments from the board.

The issue is conditional on the general meeting in July deciding on a reduction of the share capital. Last year the company raised 55 million kronor in a new issue that was subscribed to 65 percent.
