ADAC and Stiftung Warentest warn of unsafe child car seats

Stiftung Warentest and ADAC warned on Wednesday about eight child car seat models. These failed in a frontal crash test, showing serious defects. The organizations advise against using them anymore due to life-threatening risks in accidents.

Stiftung Warentest and ADAC reported that eight child car seat models failed in a realistic frontal crash scenario. The test simulated two oncoming vehicles each at 50 kilometers per hour. The rear-facing seat shells ripped from their bases and flew through the test vehicle.

Seven models are identical variants of the Reecle 360 (ZA 10 i-Size) child seat, already warned about in October. These clones are sold under different names, identifiable by approval number E8 0313715. Additionally, the Kinderkraft Mink Pro 2 infant carrier with Mink FX2 base failed.

Stiftung Warentest advises owners to stop using the seats immediately and contact the seller. Kinderkraft offers free replacement or full refund; customers should email safety@kinderkraft.com. The clone manufacturer, Yangzhou Lettas Baby Product CO., LTD., refers to its customer service and informed ADAC of improvements made since January.

The seats passed the statutory approval test, so their sale is not banned. ADAC noted that the seats are customized on platforms like Alibaba and resold under various names on online marketplaces.
