British recorded music exports reach record high in 2025

British recorded music exports totaled £800.3 million in 2025, the first time the figure has passed £800 million since tracking began in 2020. The British Phonographic Industry reported the data, noting growth driven by emerging artists.

The total marks a 50 percent increase from £533 million five years earlier. Artists including Olivia Dean and Lola Young contributed to the rise, with Dean achieving her first Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit and Lola Young making her chart debut.

The United States remained the largest market, accounting for £328 million or more than 40 percent of the total. Other British acts such as PinkPantheress and Sam Fender also appeared on U.S. charts during the period.

Dr. Jo Twist OBE, BPI chief executive, said the figures reflect a strengthening export pipeline despite slower growth. She highlighted the need for continued support through schemes like the Music Export Growth Scheme.

The scheme distributed £1.4 million in grants to 68 artists and labels in its latest round.
