The Chaoyang District government confirmed on Saturday that a two-seater light aircraft crashed into a skyscraper near Beijing's East Third Ring Road at 5:55 p.m. on Friday, killing the pilot and injuring 13 others.
The statement said the pilot was alone in the aircraft at the time of impact and that the circumstances remain under investigation.
It referred to the building only as a skyscraper near the East Third Ring Road without naming CITIC Tower. The crash prompted an evacuation and scattered debris across the central business district.
Authorities added that further details will be released as the probe continues.
