Google secara diam-diam telah menginstal model AI berukuran 4GB bernama Gemini Nano ke beberapa peramban Chrome tanpa memberi tahu pengguna. Ilmuwan komputer Alexander Hanff mengangkat masalah ini setelah menemukan file tersebut di perangkatnya. Perusahaan menyatakan bahwa model ini mendukung fitur pada perangkat seperti deteksi penipuan dan telah menyediakan cara untuk menonaktifkannya.

Alexander Hanff, yang dikenal sebagai That Privacy Guy, melaporkan bahwa Chrome mengunduh model Gemini Nano secara otomatis jika perangkat memenuhi persyaratan perangkat keras. File tersebut muncul sebagai weights.bin di dalam folder bernama OptGuideOnDeviceModel. Hanff memverifikasi perilaku tersebut pada sistem macOS dan Windows, dengan mencatat bahwa file tersebut dapat muncul kembali setelah dihapus kecuali pengguna mengambil langkah-langkah khusus untuk menghentikannya.
