Madbouly reviews progress of major healthcare projects in Cairo and Giza

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly conducted a field tour on Tuesday to inspect ongoing construction and redevelopment works at several public healthcare facilities in Cairo and Giza, reaffirming the government's commitment to improving the quality and accessibility of medical services nationwide. The tour is part of the government's continuous monitoring of healthcare system performance and efforts to modernize public hospitals. Madbouly stressed that healthcare remains a top priority in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives.

The tour began at Dar Al Salam Oncology Hospital, where Madbouly reviewed service quality and followed up on development progress. The project involves upgrading the existing building with 129 beds and constructing a new one adding 108 beds, with a total built-up area exceeding 28,500 square meters. The hospital operates in strategic partnership with France's Gustave Roussy Institute, which took over management on June 1, 2025.

Since then, it has reviewed 356 cases on-site and 27 via telemedicine, handling around 37,000 state-funded cases from June to November 2025, plus 580 insured patients, 100 bone marrow transplants, over 50,500 outpatient visits, 1,155 surgeries, and 13,583 chemotherapy sessions. To reduce congestion, clinic hours have been extended, pharmacy services improved, and over 65 training programs conducted for staff.

During an unannounced visit, Madbouly spoke with patients who expressed satisfaction with doctor availability, medicines, and improved standards under French management. "The government is exerting maximum efforts, in cooperation with the private sector, to secure the resources needed to improve healthcare services and ensure the financial and operational sustainability of new projects," Madbouly said. He added that these projects effectively build new hospitals, boosting bed capacity and service quality.

Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar noted that Egypt implemented extensive healthcare projects from 2014 to 2025, with investments over EGP 222 billion across more than 1,255 initiatives. Egypt is advancing the Universal Health Insurance System toward its second phase for comprehensive coverage. Madbouly also visited Bulaq Abu El-Ela General Hospital, Nasser Institute Hospital in Cairo, and Om Al-Masryeen General Hospital, Bulaq El-Dakrour General Hospital in Giza, emphasizing acceleration to maintain uninterrupted services.
