Madonna was forced to withdraw from a planned surprise appearance at London Pride on July 4 due to safety concerns over large crowds.
Organisers of Pride in London issued a statement confirming that the singer would not appear or perform at the Trafalgar Square event. They highlighted two headliners already booked for the main stage to close the day of protest and celebration.
Reports indicated that Madonna had been excited about the opportunity given her advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights. Her team ultimately decided against it at the last minute to avoid turning the well-organised gathering into chaos.
Earlier in the week Madonna had performed at an album launch party in London on July 2. The withdrawal came after initial speculation that she might speak to the crowd instead of performing.
