Power outage disrupts morning commute on Seoul Subway Line 1

A power outage on Seoul Subway Line 1 on Wednesday morning disrupted services and caused major delays for commuters during rush hour.

According to KORAIL, the power outage occurred at 7:29 a.m. on the southbound section between Changdong Station and Sinimun Station. Services were suspended on a wider southbound stretch from Dobongsan Station to Cheongnyangni Station.

Power was restored at 9:48 a.m. and services on the affected section resumed at 9:57 a.m., followed by work to normalize intervals on remaining sections.

Major stations including Yongsan Station saw heavy congestion on platforms and at nearby bus and taxi stops as passengers waited for delayed trains. A KORAIL official said the cause remains under investigation while efforts continue to restore normal operations.
