In Ethiopia's 7th general election, Prosperity Party won 438 seats in the House of Peoples' Representatives. National Election Board Deputy Chairperson Tesfaye Nway announced the results.
Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice secured 13 House of Peoples' Representatives seats and 73 regional and city council seats, totaling 86, making it the leading opposition party nationally. The party stated it will collaborate with all Ethiopian forces on national interests.
President Taye Atske Selassie noted the election showed new political practices taking root. The African Union said the election laid a historical foundation for Ethiopia's democracy building.
