Public school principals to be questioned by Parliament on fund use

The Parliamentary Education Committee will begin questioning Group C1 school principals on the use of billions in public funds, following reports from the Auditor General.

Committee chair Dick Maungu said the move stems from Auditor General reports showing many schools have never answered questions in Parliament.

Parliament has prepared a system allowing principals to respond directly to audit report issues. Group C1 schools receive government capitation and manage projects worth millions.

Education Minister Julius Ogamba supported the step to strengthen accountability. KESSHA chair Willie Kuria said principals are ready to explain themselves.

National Parents Association chair Silas Obuhatsa said the move will restore public trust but should avoid harassment.
