A Rappi study indicates that in-person food purchases generate hidden costs of up to 15,000 pesos per trip and a loss of between three and 4.5 hours per month compared to apps.
Rappi's analysis evaluated consumption habits in Colombia's main cities during 2026, focusing on small purchases of between five and ten products.
According to the company, factors such as transport, traffic and impulse buys make in-person shopping up to 30% less efficient than digital orders.
In Bogotá a public transport trip exceeds 7,100 pesos round trip, while using a private car can add more than 15,000 pesos for gas and parking in 45 minutes.
The study also noted that walking aisles in physical supermarkets increases unplanned purchases of forgotten items by up to 53%.
