The Pittsburgh Steelers are interested in University of Miami quarterback Carson Beck primarily because of his extensive starting experience, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter Gerry Dulac. Dulac noted that Beck has started 43 games, including time at Georgia where he won a national title. The team has little intention of selecting a quarterback with its top pick.
Gerry Dulac reported that the Steelers do not view any quarterback after Fernando Mendoza as a first-round option. However, Beck stands out for his experience, having led the SEC in completions and yards during his first full starting season in 2023 at Georgia. He finished with a 37-6 record as a starter and recently visited the Steelers ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Post-Gazette noted. Dulac wrote, “one of the reasons they like Miami’s Carson Beck is he has started 43 games, counting his time when he won a national title at Georgia.” None of those starts came during Georgia's two National Championship runs, but Beck meets key benchmarks from Bill Parcells' quarterback evaluation criteria, including over 30 starts and 23 wins. The Steelers, under general manager Omar Khan, seek an “AFC North QB,” and Beck fits at 6-04 6 inches, 233 pounds with 10-inch hands. While projected as a Day 3 pick due to flaws, his pedigree makes him a developmental option beyond prospects like Will Howard.
