Buga socializes Law 2453 against political violence towards women

National, departmental and local authorities met in Buga to socialize Law 2453 of 2025 and advance its implementation in territories, aiming to strengthen institutional responses to political violence against women.

In Buga, Valle del Cauca, a meeting took place on April 27, 2026, to discuss the implementation of Law 2453 of 2025, aimed at eradicating political violence against women.

Governor Dilian Francisca Toro stressed that the biggest challenge is ensuring the law has real impact in municipalities. “Law 2453 of 2025 must not remain on paper; it must be felt in the territories. The task is to protect women in political leadership effectively,” she stated.

Senator Norma Hurtado Sánchez warned of violence in institutional settings, noting a ruling by the Electoral Commission in favor of Governor Toro. “Disguised political control with systematic attacks. [...] Politics cannot be a hostile space for women,” she said. Valle General Secretary Liza Rodríguez and Representative Lina María Segura Moyano also urged effective territorial implementation mechanisms.

The event ended with a call for coordinated actions among institutions to ensure the law's effective enforcement in territories.
