Cathay Pacific flight evacuated after smoke in cabin

A Cathay Pacific flight from India to Hong Kong was evacuated after landing when smoke from an overheating air-conditioning system appeared in the cabin, with no injuries reported.

Flight CX624 from Bengaluru landed at Hong Kong International Airport at 9.53am on Sunday. Smoke appeared in the cabin of the Airbus A330 as it left the runway.
A preliminary investigation found the smoke came from an overheating air-conditioning system that cooled and dissipated soon after landing. The aircraft taxied to a parking bay where passengers and crew were evacuated safely, with fire services on standby.
A Cathay spokesman said the engineering team is carrying out inspections and maintenance before returning the aircraft to service. The airline stated that the safety of customers and crew guides every decision it makes.
